This week's assignments have definitely made an impact on both my personal and professional life. The graphics and presentation tools have shown me new and creative ways to engage my students. I really like the Face in Hole site, however, due to the often risque scene selections, I would not allow my students to use the site. I do plan to use it for them to create personalized holiday greetings as both animated and still presentations.
More significant of an impact was made by the readings, specifically chapter one. The technology standards were especially helpful. I hadn't realized how far away I was from making leaning about technology relevant to my students. Chapter one put things into perspective for me, encouraging me to make my goals more specific to the standards. It also improved my vague ideas around assessment.
I never thought of having the students use the graphics programs for holiday cards. Terrific idea! I'll ahve to put more thought into how I can incorporate animation programs into what we do. I agree with the importance of the tech standards in chapter one. Having them in mind will help me make sure I plan lessons that will benefit my students' growth in technology.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit 'awed' by the technology standards in Chapter One. I found myself reading and re-reading Chapter One to get in the zone about the standards relevant to technology. The more I read I realized, like you did, that these are specific and attainable.
ReplyDeleteI am using the format found in Chapter One and applying it to current course/lesson design at work. Just because my students are grown-up, I've always tried to get them involved in problem-solving and think about how they'll apply knowledge to their jobs.
I liked the graphics assignment as I got to be creative. I can't draw very well (my sister Mary is the artistic one) so I was happy to do a little storyboard cartoon. It was fun!
